The Charlie Charlie Challenge is a cheaper version of a ouija board that needs just two pencils and a piece of paper. Originating from Mexico, you balance one pencil across the other before chanting "Charlie, Charlie can we play?" If Charlie - a supposed ancient evil spirit - arrives then the top pencil spins on the other. You then ask a question and the pencil will usually move into a section of the paper, which is divided into yes or no, to give an answer. The original Central American version involves six pencils placed into the shape of a rectangle with the two ends either rolling away - meaning Charlie is not there - or inward, meaning Charlie is there. When the players want to finish they must chant: "Charlie, Charlie can we stop?" and then drop a pencil on the floor to break contact. Not according to Catholic priest Father Stephen McCarthy from Philadelphia in the United States. He wrote in a letter to a local school: "There is a dangerous game going around on social media which openly encourages impressionable young people to summon demons. "I want to remind you all there is no such thing as 'innocently playing with demons'. "Please be sure to NOT participate and and encourage others to avoid participation as well. "The problem with opening yourself up to demonic activity is that it opens a window of possibilities which is not easily closed." So be warned...
